Assessments by third parties

In recognition of its strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices, Kyowa Kirin is included in some of the major socially responsible investment (SRI) indexes in Japan and overseas.

In 2018, the Company was selected to be continuously included in three indexes—the FTSE Blossom Japan Index, MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, and MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index (WIN)—which were selected by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF)1 upon commencing its ESG investment.

In addition, Kirin Holdings Company, Limited (our parental company) has been certified as a "Climate Change A List" and "Water A List" company by the CDP (an international non-profit organization providing environmental information disclosure system). This is due to the highly appraised group-wide initiatives (including Kyowa Kirin Group) on climate change and water resource conservation.

SNAM Sustainability Index

An index composed of corporations that achieved above-standard ESG scores in corporate surveys conducted by Sompo Risk Management & Health Care Inc. (in terms of E: environmental assessments) and by Integrex Inc. (in terms of S and G: social and corporate governance assessments). Launched in August 2012.

Morningstar Socially Responsible Investment Index (MS-SRI)

The first socially responsible investment index in Japan developed by Morningstar Japan K.K. based on CSR survey data compiled by Toyo Keizai Inc. Morningstar Japan K.K. selects 150 companies from among approximately 4,000 listed companies in Japan by assessing their social responsibility, and converts their stock prices into the index.
