KYOWA KIRIN SUPPORTS PRIDE MONTH

Celebrating PRIDE Month 2025 ─ Threads of Connection: Woven with PRIDE

As we step into PRIDE Month 2025, we at Kyowa Kirin are celebrating the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community to our organization, and the diversity that every one of us brings to the work we do. By embracing our unique qualities, we can foster new ideas, develop new ways of thinking and strengthen innovation. Through our individuality, we are stronger together.

For PRIDE Month this year, Kyowa Kirin is drawing inspiration from the WorldPride campaign, ‘The Fabric of Freedom’. This campaign beautifully underscores the idea that, much like fabric, the strength of the LGBTQ+ community lies in its interconnectedness and shared humanity. It encourages us to celebrate the progress made so far, while raising awareness of the challenges that persist for LGBTQ+ people around the world, who make up 9% of the global population.i

Threads of Connection: Woven with PRIDE

Building on this, our Kyowa Kirin theme for PRIDE Month 2025 is Threads of Connection: Woven with PRIDE. This theme reminds us that, much like a tapestry, our strength lies in unity and mutual support, embracing the beauty of our differences. Each story we share strengthens the connections within our Kyowa Kirin community, just like how a thread connects pieces of fabric together.

With almost 5,700 colleagues serving over 50 countries worldwide, we are a global company on a mission to bring life-changing value to patients, their families, caregivers, and medical professionals and to make people smile. We take collective responsibility for fostering an environment of belonging ? one where everyone feels valued and empowered to be their authentic selves, regardless of their background, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Abdul Mullick, Ph.D.

Our commitment to the LGBTQ+ community extends far beyond words ? it is demonstrated through action. Across the globe we have initiatives that directly support both our LGBTQ+ colleagues and the wider community:

  • In Japan, we will be taking part in the Tokyo Pride parade on 8 June and will be proudly representing Kyowa Kirin at our sponsored booth.
  • In EMEA, we are hosting an expert speaker and psychologist, who will speak to colleagues about supporting children who are coming out as LGBTQ+.
  • In Australia we have been supporting the LGBTQ+ community, creating over 600 sets of colorful beads over many months.
  • Finally, In North America, our PRIDE employee resource group will attend a local ‘Pride Night’ baseball game to enjoy a night of minor league baseball with a fantastic fireworks display ? all to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

A global team where everyone is welcome

At Kyowa Kirin, our Core Values guide who we are. One such value is Teamwork/Wa (和), which embodies the Japanese concept of group harmony. Wa weaves us together, empowering everyone to be their true, authentic selves. Along with our Core Values, our KABEGOE Principles remind us how we work together. These principles deeply reflect our history and DNA, demonstrating that we Care for Others and Create Spaces for All the Voices in the work we do each day.

By using our Core Values and KABEGOE Principles as our guide, we continue to build a global team where everyone is welcome. We celebrate the unique contributions of our LGBTQ+ employees, whose passion and creativity help us bring life-changing value to patients, their families, medical professionals and caregivers.

Together, we can build a brighter future for everyone. With every stitch, we learn and grow together, helping build a better future for all. These threads of connection define who we are, and at Kyowa Kirin, they are woven with PRIDE.

Take care of yourselves, your loved ones and each other.
